The Lume - spectacular digital Van Gogh exhibition

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

Greetings,

Let me write about how it was such a thrill to exhibit again in two local art shows. It was a fantastic opportunity for me as an artist to view first hand the entries from other talented artists around the Gippsland region.

ART VIBES

I first found out about The Lume in Melbourne last year at a Traralgon High School reunion (I went to school with the founder).

My sister and I attended the Van Gogh digital art exhibition with high expectations - after seeing stunning photos and videos from others who had attended this spectacular event.

It was such a unique, captivating multi sensory art experience. I personally took over 180 photos and 8 videos at the exhibition. The enormous digital projectors showed images of Van Gogh's famous masterpieces through a visual life journey of his time spent in the Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint-Remy and Auvers-sur-Oise.

We spent over 2 1/2 hours in The Lume, spellbound by the unique chance to immerse ourselves in the world of an artist. Visitors can sit and watch the digital display (which takes about 1 hour), immerse themselves in the painting of Vincent's bedroom in Arles, visit the Sunflower display for some photo opportunities, have a cheese platter and a wine at Cafe 1988 and rewatch the display or sit and follow a 4 min tutoral of 'Starry Night'.

My faviourite digital art was 'Almond Blossom'. I fell in love with the slow falling blossoms, the music, it's backstory, the hint of Japanese influence in the piece and the overwhelming feeling of calmness.

If you like Vincent Van Gogh's art, I highly recommend that you watch 'Loving Vincent', an animated biography of his life journey.

ART STUDIO VIBES

The photo on the left was taken in 1993 when I visited the birthplace of my father for the first time and my relatives took me to this breaktaking beach (Porto Katsiki) in Lefkatha, Greece. It's a wip painting, using a palette knife to capture the shoreline and the cliff walls. I'll be working on this one for a while as it's outside my normal style of abstract expressionism, so it is proving to be a challenge, but I'll persist.

Don't forget to follow me on my social media platforms for tips, work in progress videos and new product releases. Have an awesome month of May. Kind regards Koola.
