Now is the right time

Now is the right time to start attenting art exhibitions or art markets around your area.

I'm currently working on a painting, using a palette knife, inspired by the spring season, referencing the colour palette of 'Bird of Paradise' and using yellow, green, orange and red shades.

I took the opportunity to do just that and immerse myself in art by attending the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces 'The Picasso Century' exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria,

My favourite painting was 'Weeping Woman' depicting Dora Maar, Picasso's mistress and muse.

I attended the Archibald Prize 2022 regional tour at Bunjil Place Gallery in Narre Warren.

It was such a thrill to see all the portraits up close to examine the accuracy and likeness of the subject by the talented artists.

This year's Archibald Prize winner was Blak Douglas for his portrait of artist Karla Dickens.

My favourite was the People's Choice winner, artist Jeremy Eden's portrait of Samuel Johnson, OAM.

It's such a powerful portrait of Samuel holding a photo of the artist's late mother Annette who passed away from cancer.
